Ellie Ford is a Brighton based folk musician whose music is understated, thought provoking and thoroughly absorbing. It is something to give yourself up to, submerge yourself in and then let yourself drift along on the gentle sway of the vocal, guitar and harp.
2013 saw the release of Ellie’s debut EP Show Night In – which was celebrated in style with a release show in front of an enthralled audience, in the beautiful St Georges Church, Brighton. This performance led one reviewer to describe Ellie as “Linda Ronstadt fronting the Flying Burrito Brothers”. Other reviewers have compared Ellie to folk trailblazers such as Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling, but Ellie would probably point you in the direction of the likes of Karen Dalton and Joanna Newsom (whose filmed live performances helped Ellie learn the harp).
Since the release of Show Night In, Ellie has been gigging and building up a solid following on the Brighton scene, working on a host of new songs and has just paired up with new Brighton based record label, Hidden Trail Records with whom she will be working on her debut album.
