‘Inner City Life’, the ground-breaking single from Goldie’s seminal 1994 debut album ‘Timeless’, has been remixed by Burial. Previously available only as part of a Record Store Day exclusive package, and now re-pressed on limited silver vinyl, the release also includes a 2017 rebuild of ‘Inner City Life’ by Goldie himself. Clifford Price received an MBE for his services to UK music, and although poorly received in ’94, the track went onto reach no. 30 in Mixmag’s Greatest Dance Tracks Of All Time. Fast forward to RSD April 2017 and I received about a hundred texts off junglists and garage heads demanding me to save them a copy! Now, everyone knows the rules on Records Store Day but I assured them, if they couldn’t make it down on that Saturday, then it would surely get a repress later (most of em didn’t believe me and fell out with me for about 2 weeks). Anyway, here it is. The most enigmatic man in modern day dance music?! Quite possibly. The fact that he STILL hasn’t been coerced into a ‘live’ performance or over hyped DJ set still blows my mind and, I guess, gives him that air of respect and superiority over ten years since his initial statement on the world. I could go on, – the fact that jungle is one of the true musical genre’s we can call our own here in the UK, the way Burial had a fucking Independant newspaper campaign (!!!) trying to identify him; all of which adds to the sheer anticipation and cruciality for those who know, to own this record. Well, nows your chance – don’t miss it!
