Beko Disques is one of our favourite labels right now and we think that everyone who has a mind to start a dream-pop project should consider it as one of the best possible springboards around. Their latest release is the new self-titled EP by Paris-based Fabien Le Gourrierec – aka Self Portraits – who defines himself on Facebook as “just a shy boy who eats in his bedroom”.
The EP follows the artist’s debut album (which was released last year, again on Beko) and features four tracks that move between reverbed dream-pop melodies with blurry vocals and shoegaze-y guitars. Of course, a strong bedroom/DIY attitude is present throughout the record, as well as a persistent hazy atmosphere that conjures most of Captured Tracks’ cornerstones bands. – Going Solo Blog
