Product Description

One thing lost in the age of the Internet, where videos go viral and everything you could possibly need to know is immediately available, is mystery. I don’t know a lot about Weird Menace but here are a few things I do know.

Weird Menace are a band who enjoyed the days of Chinese whispers over record shop counters, reading band names from thank you lists inside record sleeves looking for their next new favourite band and staying up late to videotape that live set from a friend’s satellite music channel.

Contrary to reports, Weird Menace are NOT three girls from Dalston. Formed in 2011, initially with Merida Richards of La La Vasquez on drums, they are Emma Wigham, Katy Cotterell and Bob D’Mello. None of them live in Dalston either, but there’s no animosity.

They write their songs collaboratively. They write about distant memories with solid surfaces, about nostalgia for events yet to come, about dreams…and sometimes those are bad dreams. Interwoven melodies sit on fuzzed up guitars and post-punk bass lines, driven along by slamming drums.

After nearly two years of playing in barns, community halls and tiny basements, Weird Menace are releasing Weird Menace – ‘The Weird Menace EP’, recorded by Mark Jasper at Sound Savers Studio in the Summer of 2012.

The EP, featuring 5 songs on white cassette, available with two alternate covers, and limited to 100 copies. Each tape comes with a instant download code. Catch them if you can.

Tracklist: Dark Matter / Weird Menace / Beyond Belief / Meano / Television Screen
